Editorial Governance

Consortium Publisher Canada

Consortium Publisher Canada maintains a structured and transparent Editorial Governance framework designed to ensure academic independence, methodological rigor, and compliance with internationally recognized standards in scholarly publishing. The editorial structure operates in accordance with the DOAJ Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, COPE Core Practices, and established indexing and regulatory requirements.

Editorial decision-making authority is institutionally separated from the Publisher’s financial and administrative functions to safeguard academic objectivity and prevent undue influence. All editorial processes are governed by documented policies that are publicly accessible and periodically reviewed.

Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief serves as the highest academic authority within the journal and bears ultimate responsibility for its intellectual direction, scientific integrity, and editorial standards. The Editor-in-Chief operates independently of the Publisher in all matters related to manuscript evaluation and publication decisions.

Core Responsibilities include:

  • Final determination regarding manuscript acceptance, revision, or rejection based solely on scholarly merit
  • Oversight and enforcement of editorial policies, ethical standards, and peer review procedures
  • Ensuring compliance with research integrity, authorship, and conflict of interest requirements
  • Safeguarding the quality, originality, and relevance of published content
  • Supervising correction, retraction, and post-publication review processes where necessary

Deputy or Co-Editor-in-Chief

The Deputy or Co-Editor-in-Chief provides academic and operational support to the Editor-in-Chief, contributing to strategic editorial planning, policy implementation, and continuity of leadership. This role ensures institutional stability and consistent application of editorial standards.

Managing Editor

The Managing Editor oversees the operational execution of editorial workflows. Responsibilities include coordination of manuscript processing, communication with authors and reviewers, monitoring of review timelines, and ensuring procedural compliance with publication policies and indexing requirements.

Associate Editors

Associate Editors are subject-matter experts appointed to manage peer review within defined disciplinary domains. They are responsible for selecting qualified reviewers, evaluating reviewer reports, and making recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief based on scientific merit and methodological soundness.

Section Editors (Where Applicable)

Section Editors oversee specialized thematic areas or article categories, ensuring subject-specific rigor, coherence with journal scope, and adherence to domain-specific standards.

Editorial Board

The Editorial Board comprises recognized scholars and professionals representing diverse institutions, disciplines, and geographic regions. Board members contribute to the peer review process, advise on policy development, support academic outreach, and assist in maintaining international standards of scholarship.

Editorial Board appointments are based on academic qualifications, research experience, and professional standing. Members are expected to uphold principles of confidentiality, objectivity, and ethical responsibility in all editorial matters.

Through this structured Editorial Governance model, Consortium Publisher Canada affirms its commitment to editorial independence, transparent peer review, research integrity, and compliance with regulatory, indexing, and monitoring bodies in the global scholarly publishing ecosystem.
