Abstract

While families and racial communities often serve as vital sources of support, identity, and cohesion, these same close-knit networks can paradoxically restrict personal and professional development. Intended to provide security, cultural guidance, and social continuity, familial and racial expectations sometimes impose constraints that prevent individuals from achieving their full potential, exploring opportunities, or pursuing unconventional paths.
