Abstract
Donald J. Trump’s presidency represents a turning point in the American experiment — a period in which institutional resilience, civic unity, and ethical governance were profoundly tested. His defiance of democratic norms, antagonistic populism, and transactional statecraft exposed the structural fragility of U.S. democracy while deepening long-standing social and cultural divides. This analysis traces how Trump’s tenure destabilized governance, eroded trust, and catalyzed a historic civic awakening. From the constitutional crises of 2020–2021 to the nationwide No Kings movement of 2025, the American people confronted the moral and political consequences of unchecked executive ambition. The Trump Controversy, therefore, stands as both a warning and a reaffirmation — proof that democracy’s endurance depends not on power, but on public conscience.
