THE POTENTIAL IMPACT OF PROPOSED DEVOLUTION OF THE HIGHER EDUCATION COMMISSION IN PAKISTAN

Abstract

The education experts have criticized the proposed devolution of the Higher Education Commission (HEC). That is assumed to be wreaking havoc on national role of universities and research work. The devolving the HEC would ultimately affect the international impact of Pakistani degrees. So, instead of increasing the education budget, the government was bent on destroying higher education in the country. The experts are demanding government to take educationists and experts on board while making any decision regarding the higher education system. Meanwhile, other experts termed the proposed devolution of the HEC a may hurt the future of young people. Therefore, the government should to withdraw the decision to devolve the HEC for the better future of Pakistani

The teachers of various schools and colleges working under the Federal Directorate of Education at last resorted to protest and demand the release of hiring funds, which have been blocked for the past two years, to rent out houses. The teacher’s representative organizations of school, colleges and university of all over the country protested over non-payment of hiring facility for the last two years. The protest was not deployed to create any trouble and disrupt the educational activities. However, if the authorities remain unmoved, then circumstances may be changed by deferring the teaching activities and to mobilizing the teachers of the country.

Additionally, the teachers believed that it was expected that each institution could serve its employees better than the government officials. But unfortunately no home work completed before this decision. A considerable number of teachers may not be offered to enter into infrastructure and no funds were allocated for this recruitment. The red tap budgetary allocation process complicated the flow of payments. Thus, the government may save the teaching community of the by providing them supplementary grant of in to provide an immediate relief. So, they can focus on their professional responsibilities in the best possible manner.
