Abstract

Islamic ethics offer a meaningful guide for how people should live, both as individuals and as members of a community. Maulana Syed Abul A'la Maududi, in his book "Islam: A Way of Life and Its Basic Concepts," shares a thoughtful and balanced view of what Islamic morality truly means. He explains that its foundation lies in the belief in one God (Tawheed), the guidance of the Prophets, and accountability in the Hereafter. For Maududi, moral values are not just shaped by personal desires or changing social trends they are universal, constant, and rooted in divine guidance. His approach encourages qualities like honesty, justice, kindness, integrity, and equality, which strengthen both personal character and social harmony. This article takes a closer look at Maududi's ideas about ethics, exploring the core values he emphasizes and their importance in shaping a fair and compassionate society. It also reflects on how these timeless principles can address the moral challenges of our modern world.
