Abstract
This study analyses the confrontation faced by modern Islamic thought, particularly the tension between tradition and modernity, secularism, and Western ideologies. It
dissertation the need for a reliable Islamic intellectual framework to guide Muslims in navigating socio-political complexities while preserving Islamic identity. The research
recruit a qualitative analysis of Syed Abul A’la Maududi’s major works, including Tafhim- ul-Quran, Deen-e-Haq, and Islami Riyasat. It explores his intellectual legacy,
focusing on key concepts such as Hakimiyyat (Divine Sovereignty), Ijtihad (independent reasoning), and Tajdeed-o-Ihyaa-e-Deen (intellectual and moral
reform). The study also builds his ideas within the extensive landscape of 20 th - century Islamic thought. The study reveals that Maududi’s vision of Islam
encompasses all aspects of life, advocating for an Islamic state based on justice, ethical governance, and adherence to Sharia. His critique of secularism and
nationalism offers a framework for addressing modern challenges through the revival of Islamic principles. His endorsement for Ijtihad ensures Islam’s relevance to
evolving socio-political realities. Maududi’s contributions have significantly shaped global Islamic revivalist movements, particularly through the establishment of
Jamaat-e-Islami in 1941. His work has bridged tradition and modernity, reshaped Islamic discourse and reinforced Islamic identity in a rapidly changing world.
