TORONTO — The University of Toronto has announced a $30-million philanthropic contribution from Sandra Irving, Sarah Irving and the Arthur and Sandra Irving Foundation to strengthen graduate education and research. The funding will establish the Sandra Irving Fellowships and the Sandra and Arthur Irving Graduate Academy.
The fellowship initiative is designed to support 100 doctoral students, with 25 new fellows selected annually for four-year funding periods. Each fellow will also receive a $10,000 supplement to enhance their graduate funding package.
The academy will promote mentorship, academic collaboration, professional development and connections between researchers and supervisors. The initiative represents a major investment in advanced scholarship and research training, strengthening the institutional environment for doctoral education in Canada.
